Description: SPECTRUM IN WHITE is an unusual film of color transformations and optical illusions. Pure graphics are scratched directly on the film surface. This combination of images and sound was created for a mixed media spectacle.

Description: PARALYSIS is a computer film created by directly filming the images produced on an oscilloscope, which has been attached to a computer(s). The black and white image is then transferred to high contrast copy, the internegatives are super-imposed for transitional sequences, and finally color is added by re-filming the edited version on a rear-projection screen while using colored gels.

Description: DREAMS is a pure fantasy. It does not pretend to transform realistic events. It is rather a daydream or a pulsating imagination. Images are at once sensuous and grotesque. Mouths breathe lustfully, fingers press heads, a mannequin takes a bath.

Description: PAINTING WITH LIGHT consists of images produced by moving light. Techniques include re-filming slides in an animation fashion. Original slides are time-exposure images of color-filtered light. The experiment questions whether light can be controlled in a manner similar to that of the painter-artist. The use of an optical printer allows some manipulation or extension of certain scenes. Also, unmasked negative printing is intercut to strengthen the 'painting' effect.

Description: FACES is a film composed entirely of photographs. Still photographs are re-filmed with a 16mm camera, and transitions from one image to the next are completed through dissolves in the camera. The images are faces. One face merges into another.

The character performs acts with no apparent reason or result. His life is his art. We watch him as he lives his day. He walks, he looks, he loves, he dreams. The subject 'Boredom' is the title; all images are made as interesting as possible, but they have no exterior meaning. 8. BRANDY ALEXANDER by Lois Siegel and Marc Vais Showings: Hungarian Cinematheque, 1977; Athens International Film Festival, Athens, Ohio, 1977; Bibliothèque Nationale du Québec, Montreal, 1977. Description: BRANDY ALEXANDER is a drinker's delight. The film moves through surrealistic space to study the passage of time. One sees a fish in pursuit of a banana; a hand with drawers; a show bar, complete with bird bartender; an ear umbrella stand; and a man whose nose ticks like a clock.

Description: SOLITUDE is a film about the nature of the individual in the world as he moves from one space to another, shadowed by structures. The medium is film and dance, but the film is not specifically a dance film. Special effects, such as high-speed photography and color separation, are included only as a means to study form. The film avoids any descriptive realizations of solitude. Instead it studies the ambience or interior being of solitude.

Description: RECIPE TO COOK A CLOWN involves one character who enters a city and meets bizarre people: a deaf-mute boy, a solicitous young man, and a somewhat neurotic young lady. The film is a small vignette of a carefree but curious individual who assumes nothing in his relationships with other people and merely reacts to the way they react to him.

He's the leftover face in the crowd who collects images, the unwanted images discarded by people without even a glance. A mysterious lady hires him because someone is trying to kill her. We watch as they meet an array of strange characters during a very unusual sequence of events. Logic or clues have no bearing on the outcome of this suspense drama. Joe Private is ultimately a new twist in the history of the detective genre. 22. Description: FIPSI is a documentary about a spunky 80-year-old lady. German born, Irma Roggenkamper Garbs immigrated to Canada in 1952 with her husband Albert. The film is a memoir of her past, factual and emotional, and the adventures she and Albert experienced in Canada. The Garbs later opened Hanover House Cafe in Morin Heights, Quebec, a well-known coffeehouse. Irma's sister Charlotte played piano for Mme. Chiriaeff and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens.
